MY TRIBUTE
My heart is aching and the tears some times fall.
So many take this freedom for granted and seem not to care at all
How much it costs our families; how much it costs our soldiers -
We just want someone to keep us comfortable at no cost to us.
So - as my heart aches and the tears sometimes fall -
I say thank you to our service personel -
I know you believe in our country;
I know you want what it right.
And it is not your plan to never be with your family again -
It is not your plan to never see, hear, walk, work or_________ again.
Thank you for your willingness to do the country's bidding;
Thank you for walking that path where many of us have not been.
And when you return - I want to be there to walk with you;
To help you again capture the joy of freedom once again.
And should you not return I want to stand with your family and friends;
I want to cry with them, sit with them, just be with them -
And let them know I care.
And should you return robbed of your full life's quality;
I want to stand beside you and walk with you in the struggles of life.
And I will pray that somehow our country leaders will see
That the efforts seem useless in victory
In the way they first may have perceived.
May they call a truce, let others lead their chosen lives,
And let our country become complete with all of our people,
At home on our home soil once again.
And as the tears come I will let them fall in your honor.
